How to Change Your Litter:
Cats usually take to Cedarific and EasyEarth quite quickly, however, if your cat shows a bit of reluctance just follow these simple steps. The first week simply sprinkle in a little bit of Cedarific or EasyEarth onto your old litter. Increase the amount of Cedarific/EasyEarth litter every few days. By the second week, you should be using about half of the new litter and half of the old litter. Continue increasing the amount of Cedarific/EasyEarth, until the third week. By this time there should no longer be any of the old litter in the litter box. After these few weeks your cat should be fully adjusted and happy with their new litter.
Disposal:
Because our litter is 100% biodegradable and compostable, we recommend cleaning out your cat litter box in a more environmentally friendly way, however you can just throw it all in a trash bag if you wish to do so. If you do wish to throw it in the trash, we suggest using a biodegradable bag, so that the bag itself will decompose along with the litter and waste. Another way to dispose of the litter after you have scooped out the waste is to throw the used litter into the woods to decompose. Finally, you can also compost the litter in a compost bin, once you have scooped out the waste.
*Please note: we do not recommend flushing these products as it can cause septic issues, as well as other problems.
Tips and tricks to consider:
- Using a mat in front of the litter box to help reduce tracking.
- Sprinkle a layer of baking soda at the bottom of the litter box, before you pour in the litter to keep it fresh longer.
- Make sure to have enough litter boxes, the rule tends to be 1 litter box per cat, plus 1 (2 cats, 3 litter boxes) , as well as at least one litter box on each level of your home.
